PAKURANGA HUNT
•WEEK-END AT WAIUKU • SOME EXCELLENT RUNS The Pakuranga Hunt spent the weekend in the Waiuku district. Excellent conditions were experienced for a meet at Waipipi on Saturday, the scent being very good, and some fast runs were enjoyed. A hunt breakfast was provided by Mr. J. McGowan, after which hounds threw off in his property, where a hare was put up. It ran in a wide circle and crossed the road on to Mr. Mayhead's land, and was lost in gorse. Another strong hare was started on Mr. McGowan'B property and took the hunt at a fast pace on to Mr. G. I. Harper's farm, where a kill was made. Another hare was put up o£l§Mr. Kerch's property and was killed after a smart rnn across the farms of Mr. J. Lorette and Mr. W. Craig. Another hare was soon started, and it took the hounds for a fast run across the properties of the Misses McGowan, Mr. J. Walmsley, Mr. W. R. Morrin, Mr. J. T. McGuigan and Mr. J. McEvoy, finally being killed in tea-tree. The final run was also a long one, lasting over an hour and crossing the land of Mr; A. John and Mr. S. Bryant, and several other properties. Il was eventually abandoned, owing to the lateness of the hour. Afternoon tea was provided by Mr. and Mrs. McGowan, and in the evening followers wore entertained by Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Madden. Hounds will meet "at Taurangaruru to-day, and there will be a hunt ball at Waiuku tonight. The followers included:—The acting field master, Major O. Henry, or Satan; the acting honorary whip, Mr. D.
