JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP PALMERSTON NORTH RACE NEW MEMBERS REGISTERED Notification that the annual Palmerston North to Wellington road race of 102 miles would carry junior championship honours was received from the New Zealand Association at the last meeting of the Auckland CVcling Centre. It was decided that, providing finances permit, an endeavour he made to have Auckland represented in the championship event. Hoth races will start from Devonport and I'oint Chevalier, respectively, at 2 p.m. The senior provincial unpaccd championship will bo decided over the harbour course of 11 miles oa September 5, while tho juaiors will contest a 21 miles event on tho same date under ordinary handicap conditions. CONTESTS OxN SATURDAY MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB Tho Manukau Amateur Cycle Club held senior and junior road races at Blockhouse Bay on Saturday afternoon. The juniors raced over 15 miles, while the senior event was over 20 miles. Following were tho results:— Seniors. —L. M. Nicholson (lm) 61m 50s, I, <;. R. l'urdom (lm), 57m 51s, 2; E. G. Mynott (lm), 54m 525, 3. Nicholson also secured fastest tune. Juniors. —N. J. Aulick (2m 30s), 44m 51s, 1; R. Wilson (scr), 42 in 225, 2; C. 11. Picknell (lm). 43m 235, 3. NORTHERN AMATEUR CLUB The Northern Amateur Cycle Club held its A and 13 grade unpaced championships over a distance of 2'2/i miles. Following were the results:- R. Rollinson (7m 30s), 59m -lis, 1; R. Nineteen competed. YACHTING AKARANA CLUBS RACE The Akarana Yacht Club held a race for sailing dinghies on Saturday afternoon, starting and finishing off the clubhouse, Campbell's Point. A light northerly breeze prevailed in the early part of the race, but toward the finish the wind dropped and several of tho boats were unable to complete tho course. Nine dinghies faced tho starter, and before they had gone very far Leander and Pal drew away from the rest of the fleet. Passing the buoy on the completion of the first round Leundor led Pal by threo seconds, the other boats being some distance further astern. In the second round Leander outsailed Iho fleet and was (Jrst home. The race started at 3.5 p.m. Tho finishing limes were:—Leander (1m), 4h 11m; Pal (2m), 4h 17m 30s; Leave It (SVini), 4h 23m 455; Peanut (-IVim), 111 24m; Kenya Pup (<l'/ 3 m), 111 32m ss, Weona (O'/Jm), 111 32ni 45s Tattersfield Sweep (11m), Flying Hutchman (dm), and Stewart (<!m), did not finish. Tho result on corrected limes was:—Leander (M. Lane), Pal (J. Cooper), 2; Leavo It, 3. Mr. T. McKnight was in cliargo of the racing.
