THE SPIRIT OF YOUTH
gi rj —May I beg the favour of a small correction in your of my address at the League of Nations Union luncheon last Thursday? I am stated to have said: "Many young folk ot 19.3b had only one aim, to live like an American millionaire." What 1 said was: "These young people of 1936, clear-eyed, clear-headed, not disposed to believe things just because you tell tibein so, are readv for realities, longing to learn. What have we to teach them ? To aim to live like American millionaires? But it is just that striving for material prosperity which makes for all wars by developing human selfishness and human cruelty." Admitting the exceptions, I have a sincere admiration for the majority of young folk to-day, for their courage, their sincerity, efficiency, and for that new spirit of service one recognises in them. And as I should hate to appear to have maligned these fearless young folk, I ask you to allow me to make this correction. Ada M. Gordon.
