LOST POLICEMEN

INCIDENT IN COURT When the name of a witness was called in the Wellington Magistrate's Court the other day it was found that the witness had apparently lost himself somewhere in the Court buildings. Accordingly the Court orderly was asked to call his name in other parts of the 'building, and the orderly left the Court. Some time elapsed, and another police officer also left the Court to continue tlio search. After some minutes Senior-Sergeant J. Dempsey informed the magistrate, Mr. W. F. Stiiwell, that he had already sent a sergeant to search for the Court orderly. Mr. Stiiwell replied: " Don't send any more. We might lose the lot." Subsequently the sergeant returned with the Court orderly, who brought the missing witiiess.
