YIELDS OF COMPANIES Waipapa Beach (Southland). —lloz. for week ended July 11. Mataki (Murchison). —Last week, 450z. for 132 hours and 9200 yards. Okarito (South West-land). —Last week, 12oz. 9dwt. for 128 hours. Goldfields Dredging (Shotover, Otago).—9oz. 14dwt. for a fortnight. CLUTHA RIVER DREDGE Work on theCluthn River Gold Dredging Company's new dredge at Alexandra (Otago) is proceeding without interruption, but it will be some time before the dredge is ready to be taken down stream. The level of the river is 10ft. lower than it was when the dredge was launched. GOLDEN PROGRESS OPERATIONS Active operations have been carried out in the past two months in extending to the east the 150 ft. level at the Golden Progress Mine (Otago). The mine has been completely unwatered, underground workings have been repaired in accordance with the Mines Department's requirements, and rock drill plant and an air compressor have been installed. A contract has also been let for the driving of 300 ft. ELECTROLYTIC ZINC OUTPUT Production of the Electrolytic Zino Company (Melbourne and Tasmania) for the four weeks ended July 1 compares as follows with the four weeks ended May 27:—Zinc, 6801 (5431) tons, of which used at works, 100 (80) tons; silver-lead product, 258 (1.50) tons of lead and 37,000 ( 26,000) ounces of silver. The West Coast mines figures were:—s333 (4143) tons zinc concentrates and 1018 (851) tons lead concentrates. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Talisman Dubbo (Karangahake), for period ended July 11.—Duhbo level: A winze was sunk 2<>ft from the north end of the stopes at l.*>dft above the level. This winze holed through to the rise, which was put up from the level at 4-lOft north. On the west wall of the winze a vein of quartz Sin wide and on tho east wall another vein Tin wide, both of very good values, were cut. These two veins are separated by 3V' s ft of country rock. Slopes: Ore broken in the stopes from 270 ft to -140 ft north at 171 ft above the level gave very good assay value for width of loin. Ore from the slopes off tho <Moft north rise averaged very Rood values for width of 2Min, Ore from the stopes 51ft above level from <>.'s.">ft north to ((Soft north averaged (rood values for width of Klin. Talisman No. 1 level: The winze at 110 ft. south of the main riso was sunk loft, total 12ft below level. Assays from 27ft to .'loft avernged Brood values for width of 2-1 in. Talisman No. 2 level: The drive south advanced 18ft, total 770 ft. Assays from 7<)oft to 770 ft averaged (rood values for width of 27in. From 770 ft to 777 ft very stood values for average width loin. Tho lode in the face of drive at 77(>ft south is sft wide, giving very good values. Mount Lyell (Tasmania), for fortnight ended July S. —North Mount Lyell: Tons extracted. -101(1. Royal Tliarsis: Tons extracted. 2120. West Lyell: Tons extracted, 15.710. Prince Lyell: Tons extracted, 1210. Lyell Comstock: Tons extracted. No. S level north drive to 12ft through ore. Main shaft, sunk to 22ft below No. 8 level through porphyry. Reduction works: Furnace in blast lor full period; 8700 tons refinery anodes produced for current year. Concentrator: Mill operated ■'!:»> hours and treated 20.238 tons ore, producing 2250 tons concentrates. .Copper refinery: Tank house in operation throughout the fortnight, 500.tons cathode copper being produced for the period. Total for current year, 10,030 tons.
