HORTICULTURAL SHOWS
HAMILTON SOCIETY'S YEAR ' [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday An increase in the amount of prizemonoy paid out during the year is reported in tho annual report of the Hamilton Horticultural Society, to be presented at the annual meeting of tho society to-morrow evening, This was mainly due, it is stated, to the open classes being better patronised than in previous years. A high standard was maintained at the four shows held during the year, tbe judges commenting favourably on both the quality of the exhibits and the staging. It was regretted that the working oves the whole year showed a loss, which was almost wholly due to the big decrease in financial members, The subscriptions collected amounted to only £3l, against £4B 10s last year.
