THE MONOWAI'S CRUISE
ENTERTAINMENTS AT SUVA VESSEL RETURNS TO-MORROW A variety of entertainments was enjoyed by tho excursionists on tho Monowni at Suva before the ship sailed for Auckland late on Saturday night. On Friday night the excursionists patronised the entertainments and ball at the Grand Pacific Hotel, where they listened to tho native band and also watched tho native dances, which were performed in a beautiful tropical setting on the illuminate;! lawn. On Saturday with fine weather prevailing visits were made by motor-car to the Bewa River and other neighbouring places through tropical vegetation, native and Indian villages and sugar plantations, etc
Particular interest was also taken in the special fire-walking exhibition at Suva and a native football match in the afternoon. Since tho Monowai left Suva advice was received from Niuafoou Island that the "tin can" mail was landed on the island safely and it was one of the largest on record. The Monowai is due at Auckland tomorrow morning and after landing the excursionists the vessel will bo withdrawn from commission and laid up.
