INTERESTS CONFLICT MINISTER'S SUGGESTIONS FULL DAY'S DISCUSSION By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright APIA, July 17 Because of conflicting interests among the natives, no appreciable progress was made at the resumed conference yesterday between the goodwill mission and representatives of all sections of Samoans. The proceedings lasted from early morning until dusk.

Kaumuina, president ot the Man, brought forward 10 additional points for consideration. Most ol these related to happenings in the territory as tar back as the German regime. Discussion centred around minor details only. The New Zealand delegates emphasised the necessity for an understanding on broad principles in order to build the foundations of the future peac<; and happiness of the Samoan race. Mr. J. O'Brien. M.L\ for Westland, said he was certain that if Mr. O. l'\ Nelson had been present lie would have accepted the whole of the Minister's proposals gladly and without hesitation. An assurance was given by Faumuina that an agreement would be arrived at before the delegation returned to New Zealand and the conference was adjourned until Monday. The Samoan Offenders Ordinance, 1922, under which the Admnistration is empowered to banish individuals from their villages and to cancel Samoan titles, is to be repealed according to an announcement made by Mr. Langstojie. He said it had been dec ided also to caneel arrears of native personal and medical taxes, amounting to about £28,000.
