WINTER SHOW

SUCCESSFUL ENDING "BEST FOR SIX YEARS" PROGRAMME ON LAST DAY Drenching rain was not the happiest prospect for the final day of the Auckland Winter Exhibition, but Saturday's attendances were far from discouraging, the show buildings being well filled all day. Peceipts were thus s;welled beyond the satisfactory position revealed up to that time, and it was stated yesterday that the exhibition was the most successful staged in the Inst six years, xhe general feeling of uplift about everything was also commented on. All prize money was paid before the show closed, this being one of a number of features that produced a commendable spirit of harmony between the authorities and exhibitors. Ihe latter expressed satisfaction with the organisation, and arrangements planned for speedy restoration of their goods after the show. Preparations in this regard wero carried out from early morning yesterday, when a small army of Agricultural and Pastoral Association workmen were engaged in dismantling the competitive displays in shed No. 12. Ihe bulky dairy produce section was delivered for return railage late in the afternoon, and smaller goods were parcelled for security's sake and in the interests of exhibitors.

Saturday's entertainments included free cinema programmes, the Highland and National Dancing Society's competitions, items by the Pal moral Bo\s Brass Band, and an interesting model aeroplane flying competition, which was judged by Mr. F. C. Macdonald, who made the following awards: —C. C. Shaw, whose hand-launched model staved aloft 2m 17 1-os, 1; H. Hewitt, lm 53 3-ss, 2; H. J. Clark, lm 22 2-ss. 3.

The balijnce-sheet showed that the bank overdraft was reduced from £lll3 to £BSO as a result of the year's operations. A profit of £3O was made on the last show.
