MINE IDLE FOR DAY
PROTRACTED MEETING MEN AT ROTOWARO [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] HUNTLY, Tuesday The decision of the miners at the Rotowaro mine to hold a stop-work meeting before the commencement of work this morning resulted in the mine being idle for the day. The miners notified the management yesterday that a meeting would be held at 2 p.m. to discuss the drafting of new award claims and operations were suspended accordingly for the rest of the day. At yesterday's meeting, however, several of the men returned home instead of attending the meeting and, as the union officials considered the matters to be discussed of vital importance to all miners engaged at the mine, it was decided to hold a stop-work meeting this morning. This meeting was extended over the specified time allowed and the mine was closed for tho day. It is expected that work will bo resumed to-morrow.
