CLUB AVIATION
RESTRICTION ON PILOTS LEVELLING WORK AT MANGERE A restriction requiring club pilots to obtain permission from the instructor before flying from Mangere aerodrome is announced by tho Auckland Aero Club. In a circular to pilots the club explains that the decision has beeu reached as a result of levelling operations in progress at the aerodrome, and that it is hoped to lift the restriction in about three months. Pilots who hold B licences, and others whom the instructor considers suitable for exemption, are not likely to be refused permission to fly, and there will bo no interruption of tho passenger flights regularly undertaken by the club. The circular states that during the last- few months serious cbnsideration has been given by the committee on many occasions to the state of the aerodrome as a result of the levelling, and the position has grown more acute week by week, until last week the second accident happened, and this was directly attributable to the state of the aerodrome.
Arrangements have been made for the instructor to prepare a list of pilots permitted to fly, so that flying will not be interrupted should the instructor be absent at any time. It is stated that permission will not necessarily be refused or granted in direct ratio to pilots' experience.
