CONVALESCENT HOME

CITY MISSION WORK APPEAL TO HOSPITAL BOARD A request for financial aid for the Auckland City Mission's convalescent home ? "Whitneydale," Campbell's Bay, was made to the Auckland Hospital Board yesterday by tho missioner, the liev. Jasper Calder. Mr. Calder stated that the home had now been functioning for three years. Over 60 per cent of the patients were Hospital Board cases, and many werp received at the request of tho medical superintendent, Dr. J. W. Craven, and others associated with the board. Such people were accommodated without charge. Subscriptions and donations of late had fallen off and it was difficult to continue the work of the home. He would suggest that a reasonable contribution be made by the board for each patient sent from the hospital or received at tho request of the board's relief department. The request was referred to the Finance Committee.
