PRESENTATION EVENINGS

The Kiwitahi Hall was filled on Thursday evening, when the residents held a dance and kitchen evening for Miss Jean Johnson, who is shortly to be married. An enjoyable time was spent in dancing. Songs and recitations were given by Mr. It. Ruddick. On behalf of the residents, Mr. H. T. Bagnail presented the guest ol: the evening with numerous household gifts. Miss Hilda Ayrey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ayrey, of Mangateparu, has been appointed to the nursing staff of the Thames Hospital. Miss Ayrey was the guest at a farewell evening in the Mangateparu Hall given in recognition of the services she has rendered to'the Mangateparu Sunday School and Bible Class. About 50 children and young people were present. A presentation was made to her during the evening of a beautifully bound Bible. , There was a large gathering at the social evening held in the Te Puninga Hall last week for Miss Norah Donald, who is to be married ishortly. The evening was arranged by the Te Puninga branch of the Women's Division. On behalf of residents of the district, Mr. H. M. Corbett presented Miss Donald with a large collection of gifts. Mrs. Schofield, on behalf of the branch, with which Miss Donald has been associated, presented her with an aluminium meat dish and cover. Mr. R. Colquhoun, representing Lodge Star of Piako, U.A.0.D., on behalf of the lodge, presented hor with a silver cake stand appropriately inscribed. Mr. 0. Groube returned thanks for Miss Donald.
