FISHING AT TAUPO
FORTNIGHT'S CALM WEATHER
[BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAUPO, Monday Perfect weather has prevailed in Taupo for the past fortnight, cold frosty mornings being followed by bright sunny days. There have been numbers of holiday-makers, and many anglers are making the most of the short time remaining in tho fishing season. The calm weather has not produced the best of fishing conditions, as the lake has been very glassy and too bright for good catches in the daytime. However, better results are being obtained in the evening and several fish over 81b. in weight have been landed. Fishing in the Waikato River and the streams has been good and anglers with tho dry fly have been meeting with success, particularly in tho evenings. Streams along the eastern shore are being well patronised by fly fishermen and the Waitahanui and Hatepe Streams, as well as Tauranga-Taupo, are fishing well.
