MANOEUVRING OF BUSES
FACILITIES AT TERMINUS PROVISION AT OTAHUHU Proposals designed to eliminate the reversing of buses at the Awa Street terminus at Otahuhu were adopted last night by the Otahuhu Borough Council. The Transport Committee reported that it had examined the terminus at Awa Street as instructed by the council following upon the fatality, when a schoolboy was killed some months ago. It recommended that the roadside of Awa Street be banked to enable buses to reverse and complete turning in the side road instead of operating on the main road. The traffic inspector had approved of the recommendation. The Mayor, Mr. C. 11. Petrie, asked whether the committee had considered the advisability of petitioning the Licensing Authority for permission to extend the terminus to its former position at Mangere Crossing. Mr. H. C. Littler said it would bo beneficial both to Mangere residents and Otahuhu business people to have this effected. Mr. F. W. Grey said the committee felt the danger would be less pronounced if the terminus were loft at Awa Street.
