THIRD PARTY RISKS NO STATE ACTION PROPOSED MR. SAVAGE DENIES RUMOUR [BY TELEGRAPH SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Sunday A suggestion made in certain quarters that the Government proposes to take over from insurance companies all third party risks and workers' compensation cover was denied yesterday by the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage. It was pointed out to him that rumours along these lines had been freely circulated, chiefly in Christchurch, and that there was said to be a consequent tendency for insurance shares to weaken. "The matter has received no consideration whatsoever," the Prime Mirv ister said. "To the best of my knowledge it has not been raised by a single member of the Cabinet. 1 do not say the matter would not be considered if the necessity arose, but our aim is to leave matters in the hands of private enterprise until it can bo shown that private enterprise has failed. That is the time for tho State to step in and assume control."
