WOMEN'S DIVISION
Aria. —The annual meeting of the branch was held recently over which the president, Mrs. R. W. Moore, presided. The following were elected for the forthcoming year:—President, Mrs. R. W. Moore; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. J. B. Woods; assistant-secretary, Mrs. Telfer; committee, Miss O'Hara, Mesdames Thomson, Brown, Hopkins, Glceson and Leverson. Members are looking forward with interest to the series of lectures arranged by the Victoria University College Sarah Anne Rhodes Fellowship (Wellington), which the branch proposes to take during the winter months.
Awakeri.—There was a good attendance at the annual meeting. Officers were elected as follows:—President, Mrs. A. C. Martin; secretary, Mrs. A. li. Luke; vice-presidents, Mrs. L. Luxton and Mrs. E. A. Haultain; committee, Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Barr, Mrs. Maunder, Mrs. T. McGougan; housekeeping secretary, Mrs. E. C. Haultain; librarian, Miss Greenup; flower competitions, Miss Trevurza; press correspondent, Mrs. L. Gray. . Brown's Bay.—The monthly meeting of the institute was held recently. A discussion on the various remit 9 to be considered at the May convention took place. Tho president welcomed three new members. A letter from a "link" in England was read by the secretary. An interesting demonstration of beaten metal work was given by Mrs. Hunt, of Albany, who had several exhibits on view, "lhe meetin"- closed with afternoon tea. Brigham's Creek.—At the annual meeting the following officers were elected: —President, Mrs. Parr; vicepresidents, 'Mrs. Woolf and Mrs. Sandford; honorary secretary, Mrs. I. M. Scott; social and competition committee, Miss S. Burrows, Miss M. Burrows, Miss Gibson, Mrs. Shepherd, Mrs. I. M. Scott; executive members, Mrs. McLellan, Mrs. Rosser, Mrs. J. Sinton. A vote of thanks and appreciation was accorded to the retiring officers and members. Jubilee. —The first annual meeting was held in St. James' Hall. Mrs. Higgins was re-elected president, and Mrs. Franks secretary, each being the recipient of ■ a bouquet from the members. After the business was over, Mrs. Bridgman, organiser for the Waikato Federation, announced the results of the ballot and gave a ,short talk on committees. A winter show sub-com-mittee was elected. A sponge competition was won by Mrs. Higgins, and an apple jelly competition by Mrs. Maclean. Prizes for the best-kept notebooks were Avon by Mesdames Fisher and Hogarth. Fairfield.—At the monthly meeting, over which Mrs. Fow presided, the annual report was read. Competitions at the recent garden party were won by Mrs. Mack, Mrs. Langsland, Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. Markin, Miss Jordan 1 , Mrs. Storey, sen. Morrinsvillo.—The branch held its seventh annual meeting recently, Mrs. F. H. Hutchings (president) presiding. About 50 members were present and several new members were enrolled. Officers wore elected as follows:—President, Mrs. H. Wilcox; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames F. W. B. Jenner and K. H. Hutchings; secretary, Mrs. R. A. S. Browne; treasurer, Mrs. P. J. Cooper; housekeeping secretary. Mrs. Campbell; advisory member, Mrs. M. E. Barrowclough; sales table, Mrs. P. J. Cooper; assistant-sales table, Mrs. R. Galliohan; official hostesses, Mesdames Slade-Gully and Hopkins; tea money collectors, Misses Preston Holt and F. Cunningham; floral steward, Mrs. J. Brown. Ngongotaha.—Tho following officers wero elected for the ensuing year at the annual meeting of the Ngongotaha branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, held on Friday afternoon:—President, Mrs. K. Martin; vice-presidents, Mesdames Brvce and Moule; secretary, Mrs. W. Robinson; treasurer, Mrs. Iremonger; advisory members, Mesdames J. J. Smyth© and H. E. Sharp; committee, Mesdames Bull, J. Burr, It. Harris, Matthews, Isdale, T. Clark, Preston and A. Robinson. The report of the retiring president, Mrs. Sharp, indicated an increase in membership of 22 during the year, making a total membership of 105. The benevolent work of the division had also been extended, and a strong organisation formed.
