SLIP BLOCKS ROAD
ROUTE THROUGH UREWERA LARGE REPAIR GANG ENGAGED [by telegraph—own correspondent] ROtORUA, Saturday As the result of a large slip between Te Whaiti and Ngaputahi, about 60 miles from Kotorua, all traffic to an from Waikaremoana was blocked early this morning and it is not expecte that the slip will be sufficiently cleared for traffic to resume before Monday morning. The scene of the slip is a high rubble face where similar trouble has been previously experienced. Fortunately, it is also near the scene of widening operations at present being undertaken by the Public Works Department and it was therefore possible immediately to concentrate a large number of men on clearing the debris. . . Service car traffic from Wairoa. and Waikaremoana and also from Ro was not suspended, but passengers were obliged to walk round the slip to wailing cars on either side.
