Following are the latest quotations for frozen and chilled meat, with those of the previous week for comparison:—

Tho weekly quotations are based on actual sales of wholesale quantities of carcases of mutton or lamb or of quarters of beef delivered to Smithfield market and/or London stores. They are compiled by tho Quotations Committee, Smithfield.

To arrive at the equivalent ex ship values one farthing per pound should be deducted from tne prices quoted above. Quotations given represent the average for the week, and are not selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of shipments now on offer. WETHERS SLIGHTLY EASIER EWES IN- SHORT SUPPLY The following cablegrams regarding the Smithfield meat market have been received: — Bank of New Zealand. —Wethers: The market is steady. Ewes: The market is short of supplies and prices are nominal. Lambs: The market is quiet, but firm. Quotations: Wethers, light, 4id to ojd'per lb.; heavy, 3jjd to 4d; ewes, 3Jd to 43d; lambs, twos, 7j|d to 7jjd; eights, 6,? d to 6gd; fours, 6}d to to 6jjd; seconds, 7£d to 7Jd. Now Zealand Meat Producers' Board. —Lambs: The market is firm, with prices better. Mutton: The market for wethers is slightly easier. Ewes are firmer on a short spot position. Beef: Frozen beef is nominal, owing to short spot stocks. New Zealand porkers: Light-weights are easier, but the domaud is good. New Zealand baconers: The market is steady and unchanged. CHILLED BEEF FROM NQRTH FIRST SHIPMENT THIS WEEK • [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANG AREI, Saturday The first shipment of chilled beef from North Auckland will be shipped from Opua by the Coptic next week. The cattle have been killed at the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company's works at Moerewa. ' CHRISTCHURCH PROPERTY TWO IMPORTANT DEALS A two-storeyed building, known as Union Chambers, in Christchurch, has been purchased by the trustees of the G. J). Greenwood estate from Messrs. J. W. and J. E. Bates. The area of the property is over 24 perches, having a frontage of 54ft. to Cashel Street and a depth of 123 ft. Although the price is not disclosed it is stated to exceed five figures. A price of £62,1)00 was paid by the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, Limited, for the freehold of Cathedral Chambers, Christchurch. Tho sale was announced earlier this month, and tho property will bo used as the future branch office for tho society in Christchurch. COTTON, RUBBER, COPRA, ETC.
