SCENIC RESERVES
INSTITUTE'S SUPPORT A passed by the council in 1926 supporting a proposal to create a scenic reserve fn the Waitakeres was confirmed at the monthly meeting of the Auckland Council of the Institute of Horticulture this week. It was resolved to give every co-operation in the matter and to take part in a public meeting should this be held. A letter of appreciation of his efforts with respect to the Urewera. Reserve was forwarded to the Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs. The preservation of the Waipoua Forest and other scenic reserves was also discussed. In an endeavour to ireinstitute an effective scheme of horticultural education for Auckland City it was decided to call a conference at the Seddon Memorial Technical College next week. Professor A. P. W. Thomas was elected an honorary fellow of the Institute of Horticulture, and Viscount Bledisloe was elected an honorary overseas member, in appreciation of his great interest in the movement.
