CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDED VICTORY FOR NORTH SHORE The senior water polo championship of Auckland for the 19351)6 season was won in the Tepid Baths last night by North Shore, which defeated Ponsonby in a thrillmjj contest by 3 goals to 2. The match, which brought these two unbenten tennis together, waß decided at the Mount Eden AmUteur Swimming Club's carnival under the control of the Auckland Water Polo Control Board. Ponsonby attacked from the start and the hall was carried beyond halfway, whore Woodall goaled with a long shot. Piny was resumed at a lively pace, each sido combining well, and defending strongly. At last Lonsdale shot the ball into the net, and at the interval the score was:—Ponsonby, 1; North Shore, 1. The players battled hard after the jesumption of play, and well-practised passing movements appealed to the spectators. It was not long before Stotter placed Ponsonby in the load, hut Crump replied by again equalising the score. The closing stages were most exciting, the bsll travelling rapidly from one end of the hath to the other. North Shore eventually closed round Ponsonby's goal, and Crump, accepting from Stevens/ gained the winning point, The game ended:—North Shore. 3; Ponsonby, 2. Mr. W. J. Stevens was referee.
