RACING SUSPENSIONS
RUNNING OF GOLD FOX NEW ZEALANDERS INVOLVED S. G. WARE AND W. JENKINS (Received April 6, 7.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, April 6 The racehorse Gold Fox, who ran fourth in the Soinerville Trial Stakes at Epsom on Saturday, the trainer, S. G. Ware, and the jockey, W. Jenkins, were to-day disqualified for 12 months, the trainer and jockey having been found guilty of dishonourable actions and improper practices in connection with the running of the race. Gold Fox is owned by the Dunedin sportsman Air. G. J. Barton, who is in no way associated with the inquiry. Ware and Jenkins, who have won several races in association since their arrival in Melbourne, have four days in which to lodge an appeal.
S. G. Ware formerly trained at Dunedin and Jenkins was apprenticed to him. Last season Ware took a number of horses to Australia, and he has had a fair amount of success. Gold Fox, who was originally known as Gold Tax, was a winner in New Zealand. He is a five-year-old gelding by Paper Money from Artistic and was bred by his owner.
