FIVE BANKRUPTCIES
RETURNS FOR FEBRUARY Five bankruptcies were filed in Auckland during February, these being the first this year, as January was the first month for a number of years during which there were no bankruptcies. The figures for February in the last few years are:—l93s, 3- 1934, 4; 1933, 9; 1932, 9; 1831, 13. The total of five bankruptcies for the first two months of the year is one lower than last year, and considerably below that for the corresponding period in any of the preceding four years. The petitions filed last month were those of ii seaman, a butcher, a farmer, an upholsterer and a spinster. HAMILTON RETURNS ONLY TWO PETITIONS FILED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday Two petitions in bankruptcy were filed in the Hamilton district during February. There was a similar number in February, 1935.
