STRADIVARIUS VIOLIN
THEFT IN NEW YORK INSURED FOR £6OOO INCIDENT DURING CONCERT (Received March 1, 5.5 p.in.) NEW YORK, Feb. 29 A Stradivarius violin insured for £6OOO was mysteriously stolen from a dressing room in the Carnegie Hall tonight while the owner," Mr. Bronislaw Huberman, a Polish violinist, was giving a concert in the State Auditorium with another instrument. Mr. Huberman had been playing the valuable violin shortly before, and the stage watchmen are at a loss to explain how the thief could have got behind the stage, much less entered the musician's dressing room. In spite of his loss and the presence of numerous police, Mr. Huberman finished his recital. He is of the opinion that the thief had no knowledge of musical instruments, as he left six bows valued at £3OO each.
