In 1934-35 the clip was worth £4,357,470, and in -1933-34, £10,241,041. The total Australian clip for the season is estimated at £47,000,000, against £38,526,025 realised last season. The total return to Australia and New Zealand should thus be about £55,000,000, against about £43,000,000 in the previous season. SOUTH CANTERBURY RETURNS LARGE PAYOUT ON SECOND SALE [by telegraph—press association] TIMARU, Tuesday South Canterbury sheepfarmers who solfi their clips at the second Timaru wool sale on February 10 received a cheque for £383.949, one of the largest payouts in this district from one auction for more than four years. The offering was a record for South Canterbury, totalling 25,981 bales, of which 24,841 were sold. The wool auctioned this month was worth £ls 'Bs 4d a bale, which is equivalent to 10.60 d a pound. At the first sale in Timaru in December, 12,196 ba}es were disposed of, the total value being £173,801. The average price at the December sale was £l4 os, and the average price a pound 10.24 d. Thus South Canterbury woolgrowers hare enjoyed a fairly good return this season, the two sales having returned £556,841, representing an average of £l4 16s B<J a bale, and 10.44 d a pound.
