LABOUR CONFERENCE
DOMINION REPRESENTATIVE EIGHT NOMINATIONS MADE [by telegraph—press association*] WELLINGTON, Tuesday There i 3 a keen desire among the industrial unions throughout New Zealand to appoint a representative to the International Labour Conference at Geneva 011 June 4 this year. No fewer than eight nominations have been submitted to the Department of Labour, those nominated being:—The Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.L.C. (Auckland), Mr. F. J. Cleary (Hastings), Mr. E. Kerry (Ohura), Mr. A. McLaggan (Brunnerton), Mr. T. Purtell (Auckland), Mr. G. T. Thurston (Christchurch), Mr. J. Tucker (Wellington), and Mr. F. L. Turley (Greymouth). It has been decided to call for recommendations for selection of one of tho eight nominees mentioned, and industrial unions have been .requested to fill in nomination forms and forward them to the deputy-registrar of industrial unions, Mr. H. E. Morton, not later than noon on March 11. The authorities point out that it is left for each union to decide whether its recommendation should be made in pursuance of a resolution of a meeting of the union or of the committee of management, and recommendations should be addressed to the secretary of labour, Wellington. For the purpose of selection, each union with not more than 50 members will have one vote and each union having more than 50 njembers will have one vote for each complete 50 of its membera.
