PUREWA CEMETERY
Sir, —After a recent visit to. the above cemetery, 1 have to endorse "Constant Visitor's" remarks. I was more than surprised to see the dilapidated state of the paths. The path leading to the grave I visited was one mass of weeds and grass. I presume Mr. Nicholson did not make a general survey of tlie paths at the further end of the main drive to the right. Perhaps a press notice occasionally would be a means to have this very necessary matter attended to and give the public decent access to their loved ones'graves. D.S. Sir,—l have just road Mr. Harold Nicholson's condemnation of a "Constant Visitor's" letter, re the appalling neglect at the above cemetery. I did not, unfortunately, see "Constant Visitor's" letter, but 1 also have visited Purewa lately, both before and after the late storm, and if Mr. Nicholson has seen no cause for complaint, he must indeed be very unobservant, or have some personal reason for wishing no publicity to be given to the disgraceful state of neglect in which the small paths, and surroundings of the graves generally are kept. It is quite correct that weeds are allowed to grow and seed absolutely unchecked, and that the resting place is appallingly neglected. The storm had nothing to do with this, it was in this state weeks before. Possibly "Constant Visitor's" letter has i spurred on the weeding, cutting, and clearing, so I am hoping my feeling of strong indignation at the state of this cemetery will be soothed at my next visit. Another Constant Visitor.
