MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE

REMITS NOT REJECTED AUCKLAND SUGGESTION DENIED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] HASTINGS, Tuesday A denial of the Auckland City Council suggestion that eertain remits had been rejected from the order paper to be laid before the annual conference of the Municipal Association of New Zealand at Napier next week was given to-day by the Mayor of Napier, Mr. C. 0. Morse, who is president of the association. "The municipalities of New Zealand appoint their executive each year for the purpose of conducting the business of the association," said Mr. Morse. "As far as my memory serves me, the remit referring to payments to councillors was not forwarded to be presented at the conference, but was forwarded to the executive of the association for its consideration. The remit was rejected by the executive." Mr. Morso added that there was nothing to prevent the remit being submitted. Any municipality could do so at the annual conference.
