ANNUAL PICNICS
MUNICIPAL OFFICERS A most enjoyable day was spent by a largo number of members and their friends at the annual picnic of the Auckland Municipal Officers' Social Club, held at Motuihi on Saturday. Special attention was paid to the entertainment of the children, who were well catered for with fruit, ice cream, sweets and races. On the return journey Mr. G. Grant, of the Auckland City Council, presented the prizes won in the sports programme. Following are the awards: — Visitors' Events. —IOOYds single men's championship: B. Herriott, 1: V. McCarthy, 2.75 Yds single ladies' championship: Miss E. Tilby, 1; Miss J. Cook, 2. 7oYds married men: D. Ross, 1; W. R. Marshall, 2. SOYds mafried ladies: Mrs. Burgess, 1'; Mrs. Lonergan, 2; Mrs. Mackin, 3. Open Events.—SOYds blindfold race: Miss D. Eddowes and Mr. E. Culpan, 1; Miss M. Reid and Mr. O. Herriott, 2.75 Yds cigarette race: Miss M. Mitchell and Mr. Fogarty, 1; Miss M. Reid and Mr. 0. Herriott, 2.75 Yds three-legged race:;> Mies M. Mitchell and Mr. O. Herriott, 1; Miss E. Tilby and S. TAKAPUNA CITIZENS* BAND Members and supporter? of the Takapuna Citizens' Band attended an enjoyable picnic at Castor Bay during the week-end. Free toys, fruit and ice-cream were dintributed to the children and a comprehensive sports programme was carried out without a hitch. , SUNDAY SCHOOL GATHERINGS The annual picnic of the Scott Presbyterian Sunday school, One Tree Hill, was held at Atkinson Park, Titirangi, during the week-end. Over 40' scholars and over 25 adults were conveyed by a large bus and motor-car". Swimming was popular in the morning and races were held in the afternoon. The Grange Road Baptist Sunday School held its picnic at Atkinson Park and Beach, Titirangi. In spite of the unsettled weather there waa a splendid attendance of scholars and parents. Heavy rain fell during the outward journey, but cleared on arrival, the day eventually becoming Quite fine. The morning' was spent in swimming and games, and during the afternoon a sports programme was held. Fruit and gifts were presented to all the scholars. PONSONBY BOYS* BAND An enjoyable picnic for members and friends of the Ponsonby Boys' Band was held at Tui Glen. Henderson, during the week-end. About 100 attended. Selections were presented during the day by the band and the antics of a performing dog proved popular. The band queen, Miss D. Lynne, was present with her maids of honour. Misses N. Austin and J. Courtney.
