POWER FOR TRAMWAYS
PROPOSED AGREEMENT A decision to insist that the proposed agreement between the Auckland Transport Board and the Auckland Power Board for a flat-rate charge for electricity stand as at present drafted, was reached at a meeting of the Power Board in committee, according to a port presented at the meeting of the board yesterday. After a report from the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, a resolution had been passed that the board could not see its way clear to agree to the deletion of the arbitration clause covering the position at the end of the fir'st of the propesed flat-rate periods of five years. If the Transport Board could not accept the proposed agreement as it stood, tho only alternative was to continue the charge for tramway power under tho provisions of • the existing agreement. It was agreed to receive-a deputation from picture theatre interests next , Monday requesting lower charges for" power and lighting. . The stove committee reported that on February 17 over 700 stoves had been connected since the commencement of the stove campaign, and S7 installations had been finalised in the past week.
