PERTH, Feb. 22 Considerable surprise and comment was caused in trotting circles when it was discovered, after much publicity had been given an arrangement between the West Australian Trotting Association and Mr. H. Rudd, -partowner of Evicus, for the grand champion of the inter-Dominion championship to make an attempt on the mile record at a meeting to-night, that both Evicus and Etnilius Way, who were stated to be remaining in West Australia for some time, had been entrained last night for Kalpoorlio and Adelaide, where it is understood they are to participate in races with other horses who took part in the championship contests. Mr. Rudd left by train Inst night. The Trotting Association was not notified of tho change of plans. CHANGE FOR GAY MARIGOLD TO BE TRAINED AT AVONDALE After being trained at Ellerslie for some timo past by It. S. Bagby, Gay Marigold is to bo transferred to I. A. IMcFarlane's stable at Avondale and she will go into her new quarters early this week. During the period she was in Bagby's hands Gay Marigold won somo good races, notably the Hamilton Handicap, the Alison Cup and the President's Handicap (Ellerslie), but this season she has failed to strike her best form and has been unsuccessful.
