WESTERN SPRINGS RACES OVERSEAS RIDERS' SUCCESS ATTEMPT ON WORLD'S RECORD An attempt on his own world's record time of 72s for a mile by L. Van Praag, of Australia, was the main event on the cinder track racing programme presented at the Western Springs Stadium on Saturday night. The track was in excellent order, but an unfortunate skid on one of the turns robbed Van Fraag of what might well have been record figures Van Praag's time was 74 3-ss. A series of three match races between Van Praag and D. Case, of Australia, was won by Van Praag with two races to Case's one. These two riders also carried off the principal open races, the February Handicap going to Van Praag, in spite of his heavy handicap, and the February Stakes to Case. B. Bray triumphed over the local riders in the B grade handicap event. Following are the results of the various contests: — MATCH "RACES Four Laps, Clutch Start First Event. —L. Van Prang, 1; D.
