INDUSTRIALS REMAIN FIRM
BANKS RETAIN STRENGTH (Received February 21, 7J55 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 21 On tlio Sydney Stock Exchange to•I ay the market for front rank iikluetrials remained firm, although there was a slight reaction here and there. Bank shares generally maintained their strength, but Commercials of Australia reacted moderately after the recent advance. Brewery shares advanced and Dunlop-Perdriau rallied a little. SYDNEY COMPANY'S DEAL CONTROL OF FIJI FIRM (Received February 21, 10.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 21 For approximately £BO,OOO, W. R. Carpenter and Company, Limited, of Sydney, has acquired a controlling interest in the form of ordinary shares in Brown and Joske, Limited, general merchants and commission agents, Fiji. Sir Walter Carpenter states that the control of the other company's business will be taken over by his company i immediately. W. R. Carpenter and Company, Limited, has a paid capital of £591,031, in fully paid £1 shares and contributing shares paid to 16s. The last dividend was 10 per cent and the paid shares are priced over £2. The company was formed in 1914. Brown and Joske, Limited, was registered as a private company in 1922 and was converted into a public company in 1929. It has a paid capital of £69,440 in 20,000 £1 preference and 49,440 £1 ordinary shares, all fully paid. The last dividend on ordinary shares was 3 per cent. , NORTH BROKEN HILL DIVIDEND AND BONUS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] WELLINGTON, Friday The directors of North Broken Hill, Limited, Melbourne, have declared a dividend of 2s 6d a share and a bonus of Is a share, payable in Melbourne on March 27. The dividend compares with Is 6d a share last February. In the last financial year the company distributed 9s a share, equal to 45 per ceht. The current year's distributions already total 7s a share. PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE BUSINESS IN JANUARY Estates of a value of £729,561 were reported and accepted for administration by the Public Trustee during the month of January, 1936, compared with £405,229 for January, 1935. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 117 for the month. During the month 319 new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were deposited for safe custody by living testators and 236 existing wills were revised to provide for changes desired by testators.
