SCHOOL JUBILEE
PANMURE CELEBRATIONS FORMER PUPILS' REUNION Many former pupils of the Panmure District School attended a reunion dinner hole) in the school last night. The function was arranged .as part of tho school jubilee celebrations. The chairman of the school committee, Mr. W. 0. Hall, welcomed a gathering of about 200. Among the visitors were Mr. T. U. Wells, chairman of the Auckland Education Board; Miss J. Foster Kells, the first assistant mistress appointed to the school; Mrs. A. Sims, widow of tho late Mr. Sims, the first headmaster; and Mr. T. L. May, a former headmastor. The chairman said tho committee had hoped to have tho jubilee celebrations coincide with the opening of tho new school building. While that had not been possible, the erection of the new school was assured in the next few months.
A toast to the old pupils was proposed by Mr. J. Carnaehan. Ho said thoro were former pupils present from all over tho North Island and one from Central Otago, Mr. It. Searchfield, who replied to* the toast. A roll was compiled of all the former pupils attending. Other toasts honoured were* " Tho Education Board," proposed by tho chairman, Mr Wells responding; " School Committees' Association," by Mr. P. May ; " Past Teachers" and " Present Teachers."
A musical programme was contributed.
