SUNSHINE CAMPS

WORK AT MOTUIHI GENEROUS HELP GIVEN The Community Sunshine Association's present health camp for children at Motuihi Island, which opened on Wednesday, has been named the " Rotary Camp," as it is being financed largely by the Auckland Rotary Club, members of which will visit the island next Wednesday. The 12G children now at Motuihi include 25 from Waihi and a number from Thames will take part in the next camp. The board of the association, at its meeting last night, resolved to express special thanks to A. G. Fr'ankham, Limited, owners of the motor-vessel Baroona, for their generosity in conveying all children to and from the health camps without charge, thus enabling the association to deal with larger numbers than would otherwise be possible. It was also decided to present the Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Mr. L. Heard with souvenir photographs of the Christmas celebrations at the camp, in recognition of the help that they had given to the movement. It was stated that "the cash cost for each child was approximately 10s a week. The inspector's report upon the Sunshine School was so satisfactory that the board resolved to compliment the teachers, Miss Rowley and Miss Williams, on the success of their work. The roll number of the school was reported to bo 47, apart from the 126 children at present in the charge of the two teachers at the camp school. The playground activities of the association during the school holidays had catered for about 1600 children. The Mothers' Club, with a membership of 120, had resumed its activities for the current year.

It was decided to thank the Auckland Electric-Power Board for an offer to hand over to the association all the E rodi icts of the cooking competition to e held shortly.
