STATE DRESS ADVISER

POSITION IN MOSCOW An Englishwoman who became an Austrian princess may be appointed official State dross adviser in Moscow. She is the Princess do Rohan, formerly Miss Dilkusha Wrench, whose husband is a descendant of the Erench Cardinal de Rohan, of the "Queen's Necklace" fame. The Princess has a dress shop in Paris and has just returned from Russia, where she spent part of the summer designing dresses for "Angel," a play to be produced soon in the Kamerny, tho State theatre in Moscow.

She emphasised that her appointment was not really definite. " I worked for the State theatre this June, and have only discussed the possibility of a permanent appointment as adviser, so I cannot very well say that everything is settled," she said. Among the many things that struck hpr was the fact that money is now being ,spent on expensive dressing and on cosmetics —a tiling unheard of in Russia not so long ago.

" This is largely the result of the lifting of the State ban on jazz and cosmetics," Princess do Rohan said. " There is even a flourishing Stato cosmetic trust, which is run by the wife of a prominent Russian politician." But the most striking feature of this new renaissance, she added, was the great care that -the State took of all its artists, whether painter, poet, musician or author, of recognised standards.
