HUNTLY MINING DISPUTE
NO SETTLEMENT REACHED MEN TO WORK TO-DAY [from our own correspondent] HUNTLY, Sunday No further news has been received by the Northern Miners' Union executive as to when the disputes committee will mpet in connection with the mining strike at Huntly. In response to a telegram Mr. T. O. Bishop, secretary of thq Mine Owners' Association, aaid that ho would attend the meeting, but that the date had not yet been fixed. The strikers will work to-morrow pending the decision of the disputes committee.
An inspection of the McDonald mine, from which the trouble orig'inated, was made yesterday by the chief inspector of mines, Mr. G. Duggan, accompanied by Mr. W. Barclay, inspector of mines at Huntly, and Mr. P. Hunter, manager of Glen Afton Collieries, Limited. A report is to be presented to th«» disputes committee. Messrs. I. Hutchinson, 0. Bowran and T. G. Stephenson have been chosen as the miners' representatives to meet Mr. Bishop and two representatives of the Mine Owners' Federation. The Minister of Mines, Hon. P. C. Webb, advised that his visit to Huntly has been postponed.
