TE AROHA DOMAIN

NEW GOVERNMENT'S PLANS FREVIOUS OFFERS CANCELLED [by TELEGItAPH —OWN correspondent] TE AROHA, Friday According to advice received by the Te Aroha Borough Council from the Minister in charge of Tourist and Publicity, the Hon. F. Langfitone, all previous offers and correspondence in connection - with the proposed handing over of the Te Aroha Tourist Domain to the local authority are to be considered cancelled. The Minister's letter refers to the original offer of an annual subsidy of £IOOO for five years, and to the subsequent negotiations to secure an extension of the term to 10 years. Commenting upon tho position 'at last night's meeting of the Borough Council, the Mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, M.P. for Waikato, stated that he had recently discussed the whole position very fully with the Minister and the cancellation just received was largely the result of that interview. It was the Minister's intention to visit Te Aroha as soon as possible to inspect the domain and grounds in the light of a new solution to the problem. At this stage it was not possible to disclose the Minister's intentions, but citizens could rest assured that when the matter was completed the new arrangement would be definitely to the town's advantage.
