THE WYATT EARP
FURTHER PROGRESS STILL 320 MILES TO GO DELAYED BY ICE FLOE (Received January 17, 8.55 p.m.) - NEW YORK. Jan. 17 A copyright wireless message from the representative of tho North American Newspaper Alliance on board the Ellsworth Antarctic expedition's ship Wyatt Earp 1 stated yesterday:— " Our progress south was delayed at midnight a little beyond latitude 72, longitude 172, by a seemingly unbroken ice floe across the entrance to the Ross Sea. As the ice was moving in a northerly direction we lost some of tho ground we had gained, but we hope to move westward and find an opening in the ice." A further message to-day states: "The vessel is still within the ice belt, but apparently is nearing the edge and is approximately 320 miles from Little America. We,have had no communication from Mr. Ellsworth."
