LONDON ON THE SCREEN
SCENES IN THE METROPOLIS Film-goers have sometimes complained that they never see the real London on the screen except in newsreels. Two forthcoming filing will fill this need. The feeling of really visiting London is captured in " London Speaks," to be released by Greater Australasian Films, for the picture concerns the adventures of a traveller in the great metropolis, and the audience accompanies him on his wanderings through the city. The tower, St. Paul's, Madame Tusssaud's, Rotten Row, the Old Curiosity Shop, Petticoat Lane, the Embankment, Fleet Street and the Houses of Parliament are but a few of the places of interest visited. Another picture with a London background will be the film version of E. Phillips Oppenheim's, " The Amazing Quest of Mr. Ernest Bliss," which Garrett Element Pictures arc making at Elstree, with Gary Grant and Mary Brian in the leading roles. It in the story of a young millionaire who makes a wager that he can live in London for a whole year solely on what ho can earn. During his " amazing quest " Bliss is seen driving a bus, working as a porter in Covent Garden, acting as a night-club decoy and selling gas ovens. The West End, the East End and the City* the Horse Guardis Parftde, the Victoria Embankment, the Royal Exchange, Harley Street, the Mile End Road, and many other famous places will feature prominently in the film.
