VETERINARY SURGEON
An interesting appointment to the staff of the Dogs' Home and Animal Hospital at North Melbourne is that of Miss A. Flashman, of Sydney, as veterinary oflicor. Mius Flashman was the first woman to enter the faculty of veterinary science at Sydney University, where she took her degree as bachelor of veterinary science. She was educated at Ascham, the well-known and rather exclusive school at D&irliug Point, Sydnev. Miss Flashman is the daughter of the late Lieutenant-Colonel James F. Flashman, who died on active service in February, 1917. He was honorary lecturer in neurology at Sydney University and Government pathologist before lie went to the war. Her only brother recently graduated in medicine. For the month ended December 31, 1935, 1280 animals were received in the home, in addition to 412 dogs, 17 cats, 2 horses and 6 birds, which were treated in the hospital, making a total for tie month of 1717 cases.
