ANNIVERSARY REGATTA

ARRANGEMENT OF COURSES DUNEDIN AS FLAGSHIP The programme for the sailing and motor-boat events to bo held at the Auckland Anniversary Regatta on January 29 was decided upon at a meeting of the regatta committee last evening. Tho chairman, Mr. T. L. Thompson, presided over n good attendance. Tho courses for the various sailing events were adopted on tho recommendation of the sailing committee. The courses will be practically the same as those of last year. In the case of classes A, B, L and several small classes which are required to round a mark off tho entrance to tho boat harbour, the competitors must pass on tho south side of the starting line going up the harbour and on the north side of the official starting boat coming down. In class S the Sandspit beacon must be regarded as a fairway mark. It was decided to have two races on the programme for class Z boats, one in tho morning and the other in the afternoon. Tho morning race is for visiting C'ormvell Cup crews only. A race for Jellicoo 14ft. X class boats was also arranged. In this event the visiting Sanders Cup boats are expected to compete and the race will carry two cups and a cash prize. Tho Lipton Cup will go to the first boat homo and tho Ross Cup and a cash prize to the winner of the race on handicap. It was decided to award tho Savory Memorial Cup to the first boat crossing tho finishing lino in the 18ft. Y class. Last year the cup was allotted to the 22ft. L class and tho previous year to B class keel yachts. On the recommendation of the sailing; committee, it was resolved that all engines in auxiliary yachts must be sealed and owners must state on tho entry form whether they propose racing with or without the propeller. Eight motor-boat events were placed on the programme. The following officials were elected: — Starter, Mr. G. P. Robertson; judge, Mr. G. Roberton; assistant starter, Mr. P. Hamblin; clock operator, Mr. A. Williams; timekeeper, Mr. F. A. Craig; recorders, Messrs. A. McKay, A. Abbott; protest committee, Messrs. G. I'. Robertson, S. Bell-Booth, F. Hamblin, A. Williams, F. A. Craig; hundicapper, Mr. F. A. Craig. Commodore the Hon. E. 11. Drtimmond wrote advising that hj« would be pleased to place H.M.S. Dmiedin as flagship for the regatta. The vessel will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
