WAIKATO SHOW

AGRICULTURAL DISPLAY FINE ENTRY OF STOCK INCREASE ON LAST YEAR DETAILS OF THE AWARDS [from our own correspondent] , HAMILTON, Friday The Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association's 44th annual show opened at tho Claudelands Showgrounds to-day in showery weather. The judging of stock occupied the attention of stewards and exhibitors, and there was not a large attendance of the public. ' Entries show an advance of 359 over those of last year, notable increases being evidenced in the chilled beef, pig, and children's calf classes. There was also a large increase in the .number of light horses entered, many of the riding events being decided to-day. A high standard was maintained in the dairy stock exhibited, in spito of the unfavourable seasonal conditions, which militated against the preparation of the animals. Jerseys predominated and were among the Dominion s best. Other breeds were represented by animals of excellent type. Tho sheep, and particularly the lambs, were rather backward in condition, due to the late S prmg. j « keen interest that has taken in the oic industry of late jeaus was reflected in the large entry oi magnificent exhibits in the porker and buconer classes.
