SCHOOL ACCOMMODATION
REQUEST FROM TE AWAMUTU BOARD UNSYMPATHETIC [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Thursday The Te Awamutu District High School Committee last night expressed surprise and disappointment when » letter was received from the secretary of the Auckland Education Board stating that the additional classroom for the secondary department requested by the committee might be desirable, but it was not necessary. The committee decided to forward th© correspondence to the Minister of Education, the Hon. S. G. Smith, who had Eeen the present accommodation on his recent visit to Te Awamutu, and point out the probability of a large increase of pupils at the beginning of next school year. It was added that there was a move in neighbouring farming districts toward consideration and the establishment of a junior high school at To Awamutu, a very suitable centre, and that the present accommodation was quite inadequate to permit of any consolidation.
