DOMINION CARTOONISTS

MR. FORBES' APPRECIATION TRIBUTE TO MINHINNICK. [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] CHRISTCHURCH, Wedneuday A tribute to New-Zealand cartoonists was paid by the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, at Coalgate to-day, with special referenco to Minhirinick, of the New Zealand Herald. "Many people know me only through the cartoons in the newspapers," said Mr. Forbes. " i appreciate them immensely. It has been suggested that some of Minhinnick's cartoons may have displeased me. That is not so; in fact, I enjoy them very much nnd admire them. They hit off the political situation cleverly, without being malicious or in any way offensive. "Public men must now recognise the better quality of Now Zealand cartoons compared with the standard in bygone years; in my opinion, they aro equal to-day to anything seen anywhere. May I confess that a small boy, a New Zealander, recently presented mo with a framed portrait in oil of myself. I accepted it gladly, and the pleasure was all the greater because of its evidence that the cartoonists are very merciful to me." (Laughter.)
