ARMISTICE DAY
CELEBRATIONS IN ITALY PUBLIC ENTHUSIASM WANING ROME. Nov. 4 While lio'r troops advance in Abyssinia, Italy is celebrating Armistice Day. Signor Mussolini and members of the Cabinet, attended a special Mass in memory of the G6.700 Italians^ killed in the Great War. The wholo country is on holiday-and flags are flying on public buildings. "Italy will smash on to''victory! declaimed Signor Mussolini to a large | crowd. However, in spite of the customary shouts of "II Duce!" he did not secure a' notably enthusiastic response. 'lhe assemblage seemed pensive, partly | on account of rain and partly owing '}) to tho realisation of the plodding nature of the Italian advance into Abyssinia, 'x for which reason tho iisual enthusiasm ' failed to characterise the celebrations. /:'l Ihe people are beginning to realise I that the time and money required to • complete the campaign may be more ■ than Italy afford. , / ■
