ATTITUDE ON SANCTIONS * . STATEMENT ANTICIPATED (Received November 6, 12.0 a.m.) > . MELBOURNE. Nov. 5 A special/ meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held to-day to consider the position of Mr. W. M. Hughes, who was not present. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, stated afterwards that there was no change in the situation, but a communication had been sent to Mr. Hughes, who intended to make his reply in the House of Representatives at Canberra,'' probably to-morrow. Mr. Lyons -on Sunday sent a telet gram to Mr. Hughes, Minister of Health, asking for his resignation from the Ministry' owing to his attitude toward sanctions against Italy as contained in his book just published, entitled "Australia and the War ToDay." Mr. Hughes has not replied to the telegram and has refused to be interviewed on the subject.
