LINESMAN INJURED
FALL FROM A LADDER A fracture of the right wrist and shock were suffered by a Post and Telegraph Department linesman, Mr. George Alfred Watts, aged 46, married, when he fell about 16ft. from a ladder while working in Ascot Avenue, Remuera, at 3.30 yesterday afternoon. Mr. Watts, who lives at 19 Pnrrish Road, Sandringham, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital. His condition last night was not ser/ious. Reconstruction work was in progress at the time of the accident, and Mr. Watts was standing near the top of a ladder placed against a telegraph pole. He was not seen to fall, and it is not known what caused him to lose his balance. A work-mate who was near by had his attention attracted and found Mr. Watts unconscious in the gutter. He carried the injured man across the road to a private, garage, and obtained assistance. The patient was attended by Dr. C. E. A. Coldicutt, and was later taken to hospital in a St. John ambulance.
