VOITRE WINS ON MARABOU SARCHERIE AGAIN SECOND PETER PAN RUNS UNPLACED FIDELITY'S THIRD VICTORY (Received November 5. 0.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE. Nov. 5 The New Zealand jockey K. Voitro ndded further lustre to his brilliant riding record in Australia ' when ho scored his most notable success to date on Marabou in the Melbourne Cup at the Victoria Racing Club's meeting at Flemington to-day. Tho weather was fine and there was an enormous attendance. Akanree registered a comfortable win in the Cup Hurdles from Etymology, who had every chance. Tho Now Zealand mare Revision finished well to gain third place. A Fullarton, rider of the winner, was previously successful in the race oh Taciturn. Later in tho day he won tho Cup Steeplechase on Wirrato, who is owned and trained by the former New Zcqlander V. O'Neill. Chenars, bred in New Zealand, won the Railway High-weight Handicap in tho last r stnde from King's Head, who made a great effort under his 10.9. Grand Sport ,vas never dangerous. Fidelity recorded her third success in threo starts wlion she had a runaway win in' vie Mimosa Stakes. Sho is the best juvenile of tho season to date. The Auckland-owned Gay Lot was a promising fourth. i A Brilliant Victory Marabou, after being 10th early, took charge two furlongs from the post in the Melbourne Cup and won brilliantly. Sarcherie was responsible for a game effort to' be runner-up for the second yoar in succession. Sylvandalo recorded a fine effort and just defeated the veteran Shadow King for third. Sporting Blood had every chance, and Peter Pan was never in tho picture. Tho three-year-olds were outclassed. . The race had a decidedly strong New Zealand flavour, the winner being trained' by .the ex-New Zealander L. Robertson and ridden by K. Voitro. Marabou, with Royal Messenger included, cost his present owners, Messrs. J. Fell and T. Ho'gan, the sum of 3000 guineas. The sectional times were: First half-mile, 5-ls; last six furlongs, lm 14$s; last mile, lm 39is; and the final half-mile, 49]s. Steeplechase Mishaps Wirrato gained a comfortable win in the Cup Steeplechase, which ho also won two years ago. The rider, A. Fullarton, won the event last year on Woodlace. Seven of the runners failed to complete the course, Make Up falling at the third fence. Narbethong led throughout the Yan Yean Stakes. The Auckland three-year-old Gay Sheik was second early, but tired and faded out at the end. Cotys and Tapageur finished well to gain the minor places. The order was much the same at the mile post, but a little Inter on Marahou improved his position. At the six furlongs Sarchorie led Dick Devon, Sylvandale, Clear Art and Marabou. The nast-namcd continued his run and joined tho leaders at the straight entrance. Marabou drew away at tho end to win by two and-half lengths from Surchcne, who defeated Sylvandale by half-a-length.
