BAY OF PLENTY SOCIETY QUESTIONS FOR CANDIDATES [BY TEIASGHAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Tuesday The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Radio Society President, Mr. J. R. Bongard; vice-presidents, Dr. J. Mark, Mr. G. West; president of the Te Puke branch, Mr. J. Prior; secretary, Mr. G. T. Cross; treasurer, Mr. R. O'Halloran; executive committee, the officers and Messrs. R. Rutter, B. Judd, C. E. S. Gane, B. C. Robbins, L. Blomquist, C. Adains, jun. It was unanimously decided thnt the following questionnaire be submitted to all local Parliamentary candidates for their written reply: "Will you pledge yourself, independently of party allegiance, to support and work for the following amendments to the Broadcasting Act: —(1) The election by the individual vote of licensed listeners of a majority of the members of the Broadcasting Board; (2; the issuing of A station programmes to licensed listeners either free of charge or for a nominal foe; (3) the cancellation of the present monopoly of publication of the above programmes; (4) the reversal of the present policy in regard to B stations by allowing greater coverage, increased hours, and sufficient financial assistance to enable them to function successfully." It was agreed that a letter bo sent to tho Broadcasting Board suggesting that the national programmes bo so arranged as to avoid similar broadcasts from several stations simultaneously.
